I have started with SDRC I-DEAS Master Series 30 years ago. 2000 EDS Unigraphics aquired I-DEAS Master Series. 2007 Siemens bought EDS and so I am using more than 15 years Unigraphics NX. WAVE Associativity and deep parametrization of NX allow us to design almost every thing in a fast and efficient way. Please, look at my blog www.molds-moldes.blogspot.com

There are several software options available for mould tool design, each with its own strengths and features. The choice of the best software depends on various factors such as your specific requirements, budget, and familiarity with different software platforms. Here are some popular software options for mold tool design:

  1. SOLIDWORKS: SOLIDWORKS is a widely used 3D CAD software that offers comprehensive tools for mold design. It provides advanced features for creating complex part geometries, generating mold cores and cavities, and simulating the injection moulding process.

  2. Autodesk Moldflow: Autodesk Moldflow is a simulation software specifically designed for injection moulding. It helps optimize the design of plastic parts and molds by predicting potential manufacturing issues, such as warpage, shrinkage, and air traps, before the production phase.

  3. Siemens NX: Siemens NX, formerly known as Unigraphics, is a powerful CAD/CAM/CAE software that offers robust capabilities for mold tool design. It provides advanced surfacing tools, mold layout design, and simulation capabilities to ensure efficient and accurate mold design processes.

  4. CATIA: CATIA is a comprehensive 3D design software suite widely used in various industries, including automotive and aerospace. It offers specialized modules for mold design, enabling users to create complex tooling geometries and perform advanced analysis.

  5. PTC Creo: PTC Creo, formerly known as Pro/ENGINEER, is a versatile 3D CAD software that includes dedicated tools for mold design. It allows users to create parametric models, generate mold bases, and simulate the injection moulding process to optimize part production.

  6. Moldex3D: Moldex3D is a popular simulation software that focuses on predicting and optimizing the injection moulding process. It offers in-depth analysis capabilities, including flow analysis, cooling analysis, and warpage analysis, to help optimize mold design and production parameters.
It is recommended to evaluate the features, user-friendliness, and compatibility with your existing workflows when selecting the best software for mould tool design. Additionally, consider factors such as technical support, training resources, and the software's compatibility with other tools and file formats used in your design and manufacturing processes.
