Anyone use Inventor with Edgecam?

Are we right in thinking that edgecam cannot flattern folded parts?
If we have a sheet metal part with flanges on, we have to create an iPart and save it as the flat version in order for us to machine it.

We are wanting to machine directly from the ipt, not by exporting to a different format first.
